Professional profile:

Mr Mehta works as a Consultant Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals but also works privately at the Spire Hospital in Roundhay, Leeds providing a high quality surgical oncology and bariatric service with excellent outcomes.  These results are published on the AUGIS website* for public viewing.  (*search under consultant name Samir Mehta)

He has acted as the Clinical Lead for Upper GI Cancer services from 2011 to 2014. He has convened two Core Lap Skills Courses at the LIMIT institute at St James’s hospital and has recently co-convened a National training day here in Leeds.

He is a member of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS) and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Leeds University

In addition to cancer surgery, Mr Mehta also provides a regular endoscopy service in the NHS and continues to manage complex benign upper gastrointestinal benign disease. He receives tertiary referrals from neighbouring hospitals in Yorkshire. He is an integral member of the Leeds Bariatric multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and provides a comprehensive weight loss surgical service both within the NHS and privately.
